Here's what Abbey has to say: "My name is Abbey…something. Ah! That’s right! Normal! My name is Abbey Normal and I don’t have a hump! All I have is lots of love and affection for anyone who adopts me! I tend to get along pretty well with the other cats, and I love to play! Cuddling and purring are my areas of expertise though. I’m also a very curious girl! I think its great fun to get under foot and explore places that the humans don’t want me to go. Won’t you be my mad scientist so I can be your playful lab assistant? Together, we could build a Young Frankenstein!!" "Abbey is a very sweet girl who is particular about her wets. She’s energetic and very curious about everything that goes on in the shelter. Come to the shelter and meet Abbey today!" ~RMFR Purrs to Abbey, Smokey and Vito ~Posted by Smokey and Vito
Here's a note from You Bake 'Em Cat Treats by Gabrielle Tolliver: "While cats need grains and carbs in their diet, they only require them in small doses. Most felines will turn up their noses at treats with the same high ratios of grain that human baked goods contain. So the baked cat treat recipes in this book downplay flour and other grains in favor of cat-friendly alternatives that can be manipulated into dough-like substances for baking. Now, trying to turn chopped fish into dough can be a little tricky and sticky. But with practice, you can make "cookies" and treats that are functional and kitty-delicious." Most cats seem like they are independent and only rely on themselves. But a handful of them have very unusual, but darling, friendships... (again, we cannot take credit for any of the pictures) Purrs, Smokey and Vito ~Posted by Smokey and Vito
This year has been especially hot where we live and with all of this fur we can overheat easily. Here is a fantastic info graphic from Petfinder on looking for signs of heatstroke in us cats... We hope this was helpful! Purrs, Dunkel and the gang ~Posted by Dunkel
A shy senior kitty from RMFR: "Ghost is a shy, retiring senior girl, who after many years has begun to allow humans into her life. She was selected by Amanda, a volunteer, to be her feline partner in the TLC program, which pairs volunteers with cats that need a little extra attention. Amanda reports that in November, 2011, after two years of visits, Ghost finally consented to be petted. Three months later she welcomed belly rubs and scratches between the shoulder blades. Now she runs to greet Amanda, and flops down to get her special cat massage. Ghost is not yet a lap cat, however, and if you meet her it is best to go slow and not pick her up. She gets along well with other cats, and would be a good companion to other cats in your household. Ghost was born in 2002." ~Rocky Mountain Feline Rescue We hope you find a home soon! Catnip MeatballsIngredients: 1/2 pound ground meat (turkey, buffalo or beef) 1 egg 1/3 cup whole grain bread crumbs 1 tablespoon dried catnip Directions: 1. Preheat Oven to 450 F. 2. Place a large baking sheet in the oven as it is preheating. 3. Add all of the ingredients into a large bowl. Knead together with your hands until the mixture feels smooth and well incorporated. 4. Roll meat mix into cocktail size meatballs (about 1/4 ounce each) 5. Using an oven mitt, take the baking sheet out of the oven. Spray the tray with nonstick baking spray and place the meatballs on it, making sure there's some space between them so they don't stick together. 6. Bake for approximately 7-8 minutes. Shake the tray every minute or two to ensure that the meatballs rotate and brown evenly. 7. Cool and serve. Recipe from You Bake 'Em Cat Treats by Gabrielle Tolliver ~Posted by Dunkel
